 SANKALP or Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion was launched by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. The project falls under National Skills Development Mission or NSDM. The project was monetarily supported by the support of World Bank to fulfill the objective initiated by NSDM. The project is to bolster the vocational training given by the institutions at both state and national level. The objective of the scheme is to form a team consisted of efficient trainers and assessors. The aim is to establish a robust system. A system both at state and national level will be efficient enough so that it can monitor the activities like, skill training, evaluation of the candidates, and the training program.

Structure of the scheme-

The scheme has three components, Institutional Development & Strengthening, Capacity Creation, and Entrepreneurship Development.

Certification facility-

To set a standard of the scheme it has a certification body that will assess the ability of the trainees.

Benefit of the scheme-

The scheme is believed to be strengthening the national architecture as it will be monitored by a regulatory authority.

Monitoring the scheme-

In order to give a standard to the program a national accreditation broad will be formed to monitor the training activities and the centers. Apart from that a research division will be formed to build a team of researches and thinkers.

Working strategy-

The independent research team will analyze how efficient the skill is, and the trend of labors. To make the scheme flexible the framework of scheme is universalized.

Effectiveness of the scheme-

To make the scheme effective the information system of the labor market is taken into consideration. The skill development management will help to take care of the ecosystem of the scheme. To make the scheme more effective a platform called Kushal Mart was formed. The platform will help to exchange the skill so that the labors get the benefits of the scheme.

Channelizing the activity-

In order to monitor the activities of the training program, a portal is launched. The name o the portal is Takshila-National Portal. The portal is for the trainers to keep the data of the regular activities happening in the training centers.

Guiding the candidates-

In order to develop the entrepreneurship, the training institution needs to create capacity. This step will provide fund to the aspired trainees to focus n theirs training so that they can build a career.

Dealing with shortage-

The scheme will resolve the problem regarding shortage of skilled trainers, and the non-functional institution will be operational.

Placement opportunity-

The scheme will provide training to the people to get placement overseas, and for that India International Skill Centers are established. There are 16 centers are running under the scheme, and quite a few trainees were placed in foreign land.

Future planning-

The government is trying to establish 66 more centers in the phase II under the scheme. The centers will be monitored by the International Awarding Body under the scheme.

Eligibility criteria For SANKALP

Eligible age-

The scheme is only applicable for the people of India, and in order to start a vocational training the candidate needs to be 18 years old.

Qualification-

The candidates need to have basic education to understand the training program.

Special condition-

People coming from scheduled caste, scheduled tribes, disabilities are also eligible for the training.

Gender criteria-

Women are also eligible along with men to receive vocational training under the scheme.

Documents required

Residential proof-

In order to enroll into the scheme into the scheme, you need to have all the documents represent the identity of the person.

Documents for personal information-

The candidates need to produce voter ID card, Aadhar card, ration card, passport picture, email id, phone number, certificates of educational qualification, and caste certificates, etc.

For abroad placement-

For enrollment in India International Skill Centers the candidates need to have passport.
